September 30, 2011 at 1:23 PM

samsung-galaxy-skin-confirmed-2012

A smartphone with foldable flexible screen is sound too good to be true, right? Well, I will say the same statement if I haven’t read this news about the Samsung Galaxy Skin.

At first, Samsung Galaxy Skin with flexible AMOLED display is just a conceptual design back in June 2011. However, it seems the concept is really going to be a “dream come true” as the rumor of its launch date on 2012 has been confirmed by the authority source!

samsung-galaxy-skin-confirmed-2012-2

If Samsung Galaxy Skin ever made to the surface, I’m sure it’s the best smartphone out there that will make all phones in the market looks like the device from the stone-age.

Galaxy Skin is using a material called “graphene” for the flexible display. This material has been nominated as a miracle material that will pioneering all flexible display in the future.

According to the report, the flexible display can be folded, bent, and rolled without damaging the image quality and still hard enough to withstand strong impact/knock/bump.

If 2012 is the year of such technology to appear, It won’t be solely the year of predicted Doom by the Mayan tribe, but it also the year of hope for the better technology and future (if nothing happen).

We don’t want to say the specs though. I believe it would subject to a massive change on the launch. But we’ll include it just in case:

Samsung Galaxy Skin specification (unofficial)

  • 4-inch (800 x 480) Flexible AMOLED display
  • 8-megapixel camera + front-facing VGA camera
  • 1.2GHz mobile processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1500mAh rechargeable battery
  • Available in 16GB and 32GB model
  • Dimension: 221mm x 67mm x 8mm

We’ll reported back once we have heard the official details.

SCANDY – Turns Smartphone Into A Portable Scanner
September 30, 2011 at 12:39 PM

You know, the latest smartphones have all come with a brilliant digital camera lens sensor that could take detailed photo with amazing resolutions. Though many people know this, most of them haven’t got a clue that they can actually turn it into a portable scanner. Recently, designer from Seattle called TEAM SCANDY and submitted a nice product design called SCANDY to kickstarter.com to raise fund for their project.

scandy-phone-scanner

SCANDY will turn any smartphone with quality camera into a instant portable scanner without much hassle and it won’t eat much space when comparing to the conventional scanner. Talking about the shape, SCANDY looks pretty similar with a mini telescope with retractable neck. There is a clip on the base where you can clip it to your desk, and the retractable neck could be used/adjusted to scan different kind of document sizes (from A6 to A4).

scandy-phone-scanner-instant

Unlike using hands that is shaky when trying to take a photo of a document on a correct distance, SCANDY will ‘seal’ the phone on the top of it, never wobble from its position and you can easily adjust the distance for the best result.

If you are interested to turn your phone into scanner (so you don’t have to buy scanner again!), you can pledge on their project. Depending on the amount of your pledge, you’ll get different type of treatment and other supplementary accessories.

Latest Tablet Comparison – Kindle Fire Is Definitely The Winner In Price
September 30, 2011 at 12:17 PM

No doubt, When comparing to the most popular tablets in the world, Amazon Kindle Fire is really the best in term of pricing. The following is the recent tablets comparison table made by Reuters to show how the Kindle Fire looks like in front of the big players. The specification is a little bit lower, but the killer price tactic has covered all the weakness and banished all complains that is ever made.

comparing-the-tablets-chart

See? Even the specs is lower, I would always happy to see that $199 at the end of the table. It’s $300 cheaper than all of them with just a few of the feature dropped. I wouldn’t really care that my tablet couldn’t take photo as I already own a smartphone and digital camera for this purpose. Also, I don’t think that the storage size of the tablet really matter because Amazon has provide me with and Unlimited cloud storage.

Amazon Kindle Fire is really “sufficient” for core reading activities and since it’s powered by Android OS, I would never feel boring because I have the wealthy apps market to explore.

Give me one of this “Fire” right now, Amazon!

Picture worth thousand words, video worth thousands videos. Yesterday we have seen how the Amazon Kindle Fire looks like, however, the curiosity is still high because we haven’t seen how it works in a live show. Fred not, we have got the video show (Thanks to GottaBeMobile) that demonstrating this new cool baby – the Amazon Kindle Fire that show us how it works, how cool it is, and why it’s a better solution to any (WiFi-Only) tablets available in the market.

Here you go:

I do hope Amazon will release the International series as well like their previous generation of Kindle ebook reader. This $199.99 ebook reader tablet is just too tempting for me to not spending my hard earned money. But I’m not in the US anyway so I can save it for later use.

Anyway, if you are curious about it and love to get one, you should pre-order it now at Amazon for $199.99. It will be shipped on October 15th, 2011. First come first serve, so act fast if you want it.
